Listen: Paleman - Veiled
Underground British producer drops new LP of dark & hypnotic dancefloor destroyers
A hero of the the 2010s “bass music” scene, English producer Calum Lee has been delighting listeners and dancefloors around the world for over a decade as Paleman with his layered, expansive, percussion-centric takes on UK garage, house, electro and techno, with his dope new LP Veiled showcasing his take on the latter of those genres.
Across 9 tracks (on the digital release, 7 on the vinyl), Lee has struck the intersection of experimental and accessible in impressive style, with the LP (his longest release to date) the result of “a considered and focused writing process informed by rhythm, momentum, abstract moods and a desire for tangible visceral sound design orbiting techno, UK experimental electronic music, and early electronics.”
Experimental and minimal yet functional, the music of Veiled is just screaming to be heard through a club’s sound system to truly experience its intricacies and sub-frequencies, and marks an exciting new chapter in the journey of Paleman.
