Acclaimed Sydney-based producer L D R U teams up with fellow Aussie artists for soaring new slice of drum & bass

10 years on from the release of breakthrough single The Tropics, L D R U is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down, dropping anthem The Excuse last year (followed by remixes from LO’99, Asehz and Motez), while this year has seen him team up for collaborative singles with the likes of PEPTALK and Cristina Lizzul - the latter of which was remixed by Brisbane-based producer on the rise, Fitch.

Today L D R U releases his latest single that sees him and Fitch teaming up for an atmospheric, poppy & addictive cut of drum and bass, featuring the vocal talents of Melbourne’s Riverine. Starting life as a demo by Fitch, L D R U heard it and was instantly inspired, leading to the pair joining forces before tapping Riverine for vox.

Venturing into drum and bass is something I wouldn’t have normally considered but after hearing Fitch's demo, I was hooked!” Shares L D R U. “I knew instantly the world needed to hear Spring. The opening line ‘how long can you hold your breath when you have to’ is so unique. I’ve never had lyrics resonate with me on so many levels.”

Collaborator Fitch recalls, “I remember it was one of those tracks that broke down a creative block that I had been going through for about a month. There was something really special about the chord progression that I couldn’t quite nail down so there were so many different versions before the final idea came about and the song idea put itself together.”

Spring drops during a busy live schedule for L D R U who just played Old Soul in Maroochydore, QLD, with some big shows on the horizon including sets at UTS Winterfest at The Underground, NSW on August 11 and the Thredbo Alpine Resort, NSW on September 2.
