Listen: Elderbrook - Travel Slow EP

You sound like you’re from London! Elderbrook is and he’s good.

It’s all well and good to make thumping electronic tunes that get our limbs flailing but every so often we all need some respite. Enter Elderbrook (Alex Kotz), a 21-year-old London local who has a voice of gold and certainly knows his way around a studio. Elderbrook is all about brooding and obscure electronica combined with crooning almost James Blake-esque vocals.

Just days ago he released his Travel Slow EP, consisting of three fresh originals. Opener Be There Soon is a real chill track, full of low register tones and acoustics. Next we cop Good Enough, a slow and soulful composition that really highlights the emotive singing power this dude possesses. And last but not least we get the title track, an organised mess of 808s and atmospheric synth work creating an authentic racy atmosphere. Listening to this one, I feel as though masked bandits are chasing me through dark alleyways or something…maybe that’s just me.

The EP is out now through Black Butter Records, stream it in full below:
