Introducing: Dimes
A young duo out of Brisbane with some big tunes under their belt.
Dimes are a young duo out of Brisbane with some biggg tunes already under their belt, and by the sounds of it some big ones on the way. With their latest single with good friend Manakin out on Ripe Records garnering plenty of attention around the place, we figured best get on board now to see what the deal is:
Tell us about yourselves:
We are a Brisbane based duo made up of Korrupt (Jaiden) and EmmeG (Emmett) who teamed up earlier this year to create Dimes. We met at local club events and hit the studio together releasing tracks under our solo alias’s before joining forces on this project. We’re having so much fun.
What kinda tunes we talkin’?:
We like to call it hybrid trap, a lot of bass heavy stuff.
Production writing process:
There’s no straight up formula for how we produce or write our tracks. We both listen a heap of different artists like Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Party Thieves and Nghtmre to get inspiration for the future of bass music. Both of us are constantly working on sounds at home, then we hit the studio, vibe off each other and usually start with a basic melody. From there we'll work on a solid build up or go straight in working on the drop.
With the track I Got Dem from our EP, we’d been working with a weird synth sound for a while when Ash (Manakin) came to us with a real sick intro. We messed around in the studio for a bit before progressing with the drop and losing it when it all came together.
What do you do outside of Dimes?
Jaiden: I am an apprentice cabinetmaker.
Emmett: I work at Coles giving the people dat fresh food bruh.
Any shows coming up?
We have a heap of shows coming up in QLD including headlining sets at The Helm and GPO which we’re really excited for. We’re also on supports for some big international artists that are hitting our shores in the coming weeks including QUIX, Party Thieves, Jai Wolf, TJR and T-Mass.
Whats the rest of the year have in store?
We have a stack of new music and collabs lined up for release including something really special with Sydney future club artist, Oh Boy. Rumour has it we’ll be jetting off on a tour early next year, stay tuned!
