Flume waves goodbye to the Skin era with final single, Hyperreal

"This is it. That's a wrap on all the music from Skin."

Dominating the electronic music world since the release of Never Be Like You back in January 2016, the list of acclaims and successes of the Skin era is a lengthy one. He hit 5x platinum with Never Be Like You, then 4x platinum with Say It. He took out the Hottest 100, GRAMMYs, more ARIA awards than anyone else has ever won in one night for over 20 years, APRA Awards and Billboard Award nominations, with the list continuing for miles. One album and two 'Companion EPs' later, Australia's golden boy has finally thrown in the towel of the Skin era, waving it goodbye with the release of one more bonus track.

Hyperreal, which features Perth sweetheart and frequent Flume collaborator KUČKA on vocal duties, is his strangest, most unexpected single yet, pulsing with this warped and experimental sound that almost kicks into a house rhythm as it continues. It's centred around that glitchy synth work that featured so heavily on the Skin releases, which squirms around against KUČKA's battling vocals - sounding as brilliant as ever. While saying goodbye to Skin is somewhat depressing, it's bittersweet. After hitting the road for his upcoming dates, the producer will no doubt be back in the studio chipping away on LP3, and judging by the sounds of Hyperreal, old mate Flume-y has still got some crazy ideas in that musical genius brain of his - no pressure.
