Crystal Castles announce their fourth album with new single, CHAR

Crystal Castles announce their fourth album with new single, CHAR

Amnesty (I), their first album since Alice Glass' departure, is out August 19.

The year is 2013 and I, a fresh-faced 17-year-old at his first music Big Day Out music festival, have just watched Crystal Castles live for the first time. Back then, when the duo consisted of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass, Crystal Castles were in their prime, touring off the back of their acclaimed Crystal Castles (III) album. Nowadays, the band is very different - Alice Glass, their energetic leading lady, has left and been replaced with a fresh face, Edith Frances, who joined the duo last year to a whole lot of criticism and controversy. Armed with a new single entitled CHAR, Crystal Castles have returned at long last and the result is just as good, if not better than the days of Alice Glass. Following on from Concrete (which we covered HERE), CHAR is powerful, crippling with energy and emotion, with Frances' tender vocals soaring above a quick-firing, retro synth melody that takes us straight back to Crystal Castles' glory days. Following last year's teasing Femen and more recently ConcreteCHAR is the first official single for the new Crystal Castles, also marking the first single from their forthcoming fourth album Amnesty (I), which by the sounds of things, is going to be an absolute ripper. Check out the track below.
