Akouo brings some future-funk vibes with his new single, Giving Into You

The Tassie producer's first single since his dark, thumping return In A Second.

It's been a quiet few months for Tasmanian producer Akouo, but behind the scenes, the dude's been busy. Ready to unleash a landslide of new work any minute, the producer has followed up his deep and heavy, mid-2014 release In A Second with Giving Into You, which sees the producer embrace a new, futuristic funk sound, reminiscent of producers including Kaytranada and Louis The Child. Enlisting the help of Danish vocalist Ashibah, Giving Into You is more up-beat and brighter than Akouo's previous work, with the producer exploring a bass-heavy funk vibe with heavy R&B influences, common across much of the producer's old work. While Ashibah's soaring vocals creates a polished, easily-accessible feel to the single, the real star of Giving Into You is the beat, which sees Akouo blend a head-nodding bassline with a dark synth melody and crisp percussion hits to create something up-beat and dancefloor ready. Listen to the single below via LA-based collective alaya, a label that has created quite a cult following after a round of on-point releases.
