5 Aussie Artists I'm Digging Right Now with Oh My My
He's currently celebrating the release of latest single Woe, My Heart.
intro
Following on from his impressive first release Animal House earlier this year, Oh My My has unleashed an urgent new, piano-driven single for its follow-up with Woe, My Heart. Relentless and utterly gripping from the get-go, Oh My My says, "Woe, My Heart was written for a good friend who was going through a pretty tough off and on relationship/break up. It’s mostly about heartbreak, but also how someone can knowingly continue to hurt someone they claim to care about, just to appease their own loneliness. Musically this song is all about the piano and vocal. I tried not to sully those parts with too much embellishment. There are moments where I’m really trying to show the heartbreak in the lyrics with disjointed chord changes; other times I’ve tried to use ambient whispering and talking to reflect the feeling of being locked in your own thoughts."
To celebrate its release he sent us a few of his current favourite Aussie artists - check it out below:
Milan Ring
I am completely obsessed with this artist at the moment. The only let down currently is that she doesn’t have more music available. James Blake vibes with a bit of a different twist.
Merpire
Her music is just a spotless example of old school badass, flawless song writing. The lyrics and melody are spot on, the chords shift in beautifully subtle ways and the production is immaculate.
AViVA
Her stuff is just right up my alley. It’s dark, twisted and well produced. At times I get K.Flay vibes, which is most definitely a good thing.
Keelan Mak
Unfortunately he only has one song out. But it’s a banger for fans of Flume, Elliot Moss, Chet Faker and James Blake.
RIVAH
Oh my goddamn her voice is beautiful. Perfect for when you just want to chill and be serenaded. One of those voices you could listen to for hours. If you dig Vallis Alps, you’ll love it.
