Jade Empress has been honing her skills as a songwriter and singer for several years now, receiving industry recognition in the form of being a finalist for three consecutive years in the Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest, a semi finalist in the International Songwriting Competition as well as a participant in Ben Folds’ 2021 Songwriting Intensive Retreat.

These are impressive accolades for any emerging songwriter, but they can’t help but feel all the more impressive within the context of Jade working as a frontline doctor in rural Australia and the Pacific, work that has influenced and inspired her soaring new single of epic electronic chamber-pop, Madness, out October 14 but premiering on Pilerats today.

Showcasing Jade’s knack for catchy songwriting and impressive vocal range, Madness is an ode to embracing the chaos of daily life, in the form of a melancholic yet uplifting composition that pairs big, bold piano with a trappy style beat and heavenly strings, all while keeping Jade’s vocals front and centre.

On Madness, Jade says “Routine has always been important for me. I thought the pandemic was bad. Now, suddenly I’m finding myself working in the Pacific, as a doctor alongside the Australian Defence Force, and living day to day in an environment of civil and political unrest, I truly appreciate uncertainty and a certain kind of daily madness.”

Expect more new music from Jade Empress later in the year, and in the meantime give Madness a spin today before it drops everywhere October 14!
