Premiere: Butter - Balance

Check out the fresh new single Boorloo-based alternative hip-hop-soul-funk six piece, their first new music in three years

After bursting onto the scene and quickly making a name for themselves with their unique blend of jazzy genre-fusing sounds and engaging live shows, it’s been three long years since Perth’s Butter blessed us with new music - all of which is about to change as they ready fresh single Balance, featuring a fun and nostalgic lofi DIY music video, out October 14 but premiering on Pilerats today!

As we’ve come to expect from the lads, Balance is, well, a buttery smooth affair, pairing a tight, boom bap style rhythm section, velvety trumpet, twinkling keys and a summery guitar riff, while vocalist Lachlan Payet’s commanding yet soft baritone’s story telling lyrics bring it all together… and of course, a beat-switching breakdown thrown in the middle for good measure.

Of their new single and accompanying music video, Payet says “It feels good to be sharing new music again! Our new single Balance will be launched at Mojos on Friday 14th Oct with Smol Fish & Glimmer. Jacob took his old family VHS with him when we played some shows over east in 2019. We stopped off at Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne playing at Bigsound Festival and supporting two bands we love, Spacey Jane & SUPEREGO. Enjoy the nostalgia!"

Give Unbalance a watch and spin before it drops October 14, the same night Butter are launching the single at Mojos Bar Fremantle, with support from Smol Fish, Glimmer and DJ Hunk.
