After breaking a four year silence last month with single Old Age, as well as unveiling their new moniker, Hot Apple Band (formerly known as Noodle House) are wasting no time in getting more new music released in the lead up to their debut album, with So Long premiering on Pilerats today a day ahead of release, alongside its music video.

Bringing 60s/70s folk rock and alt-country into 2023 with a modern twist, So Long is a gorgeous ode to close friends and family who have moved away, with Jack Kinder’s silvery vocals matched by Lewis Mosley’s soaring lead guitar. Initially starting life as a stripped back acoustic number, the song took on a new larger sound when taken to the live stage as Jack explains:

Lou and I recorded this at my place when I was living in Strathfield. It’s actually the last track we recorded for the album because it wasn’t meant to be on there. We have another acoustic version of the song that was meant to be the only version and this is what we played live."

To enjoy the best of both worlds, both versions will make their way onto the pair’s debut album, with So Long also the quasi-title track of So Long, Noodle House, set for a November release. So Long comes alongside the band’s first music video, featuring the pair on the hunt for the perfect hot apple pie, taking cues from iconic 60s film Midnight Cowboy, created in collaboration with acclaimed underground music video-documentarians and lovers of analogue cameras, Fabian Svejkar and Sarah Pilbeam (aka SarahVision).

Give So Long a watch and listen a day ahead of release:
