Premiere: Ghost Care rip through live takes of Oxygen and IDKY at Blackbird Studios

Our 2021 ones-to-watch have also announced a new single - titled Kevin Garnett - out in early March.

In 2021, everything's looking up Ghost Care.

The Perth-based trio are one of our acts to watch in the year ahead, deserving of a place there thanks to a breakthrough 12 months that saw them tour alongside heavyweights such as Spacey Jane and Sly Withers, and put out some brilliant music of their own. The latter side - Ghost Care's music itself - is something that particularly shone brightly across the year, thanks to a debut EP - Outdoor Recreation Centre - and a couple of songs that have come out since then, including Oxygen and IDKY later in the year.

Today, we're excited to present something new (kind-of) from Ghost Care, as well as a little taste of what's next - and it's obvious that this year is going to be Ghost Care's for the taking. In terms of the something new, it's a live rendition of those aforementioned tracks - Oxygen and IDKY - at Blackbird Studios, the recording studio helmed by Dave Parkin (whose name you'll find in the credits of Spacey Jane's work, amongst a tonne of others).

Filmed by Tim Elphic, the video sees the three-piece joined by Jack Annear for a seven-minute showcase of their music in the live setting, smashing through the two latest singles in a way that adds a bit of flourish to the tracks in their recorded state. It really brings their work into a new dimension, while showing how the group operate in a live setting (something which, if everything goes to plan, the rest of Australia will hopefully be able to experience for themselves later this year).

It's also a bit of a teaser too; a smattering of new work before Ghost Care share their next song Kevin Garnett on March 4th (you can pre-save it here now). They're launching the track with Airline Food at The Bird on March 12th (more information here), but until then, take a dive into Ghost Care's Live at Blackbird session below, as it premieres on Pilerats this morn'.
