A Psychedelic Porn Crumpets Guide to Dr. Noggin-Floggin & The Cosmic Toothbrush

AKA their upcoming festival which kicks off a huge national tour.

Perth natives Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have had simply splendiferous 18 months, including the release of two LPs - High Visceral Parts 1 & 2, sold out national tours and supports for the likes of King Gizzard, Dune rats and The Murlocs. And that's not mentioning the fact they've just signed to UK Booking Agency 13 Artists, alongside the likes of Radiohead and The Arctic bloody Monkeys. So yeah, not too shabby what-so-ever. Rounding out the year in typically hectic fashion, they're releasing a High Visceral B-Side vinyl, and are going on tour celebrate with a bunch of dates that kicks off with their own curated festival, Dr Noggin Floggin & The Cosmic Toothbrush, bringing together 12 local pals at The Rosemount Hotel on December 23 for one very large soiree.

They've kindly written up a little guide for the day below, which you can check out along with the rest of the tour dates, and a spin of Little Moon, the first single to drop via the band's own label What Reality Records.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets Guide to Dr. Noggin-Floggin & The Cosmic Toothbrush

The High Visceral journey has been spectacularly gnarly (shaka hand) and spider fuckingly exciting, and as a tribute to the last 18 months for everyone that has helped us out in Perth, all the fans that have supported us and bands we’ve benevolently shared a stage with, we’re saving the best for last! A standard album launch would be too ordinary after such a vacuum packed epoch. For the release of Old News For New People - High Visceral (B-Sides) we wanted to put on an event, a funfair, a trip to the zoo where you can encounter all kinds of exotic music and fantastical sounds. Dr. Noggin-Floggin is your day guide, The Cosmic Toothbrush your night guide, and while being immersed in our overgrown project we hope you experience something unique and memorable that will turn into one of your favorite stories.

And so here’s a guide to Dr. Noggin-Floggin & The Cosmic Toothbrush Festival as imagined by the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets:

1. The Avante Guards

Grunge, punk, in your face freedom of thought and poetical optimism. Kitchen People, Candy Guts and of course FOAM will be bringing the larger decibels to the festival. A full flavored slab of knuckle sandwich which 100% of the time results in many heads rapidly nodding back in forth in unison. These are your Tysons, Balboas, your Ben Stokes after a couple, and it’s bound to leave an impact.

2. The Vibrant Offenders

Psych, magic and colourful world themes fracture what your preconceived ideas of music once were. DIY Rainclouds, Soukouss Internationale and the incandescent space queen Moana will be delivering the eccentric, the counter-clockwise-extraordinary chapters of performance to give your bucket list a much needed refreshment. If your 10 has been set, recalibrate that gauge for eccentric entertainment.

3. The Dark Souls

Contemporary jazz, hip-hop-infused hooks that grab your attention and syncopate your heart from 3/4 to (quote Hiatus Kaiyote) multi-dimensional, polyrhythmic, gangster shit. Great Gable, Ruby May and the future of Perth’s impressive export list, Demon Days will be bringing their up-beat, get-go, feet-hustling enthusiasm that is sure to be a crowd pleaser and get the blood flowing.

4. The Beam Engines

Big riffs, loud guitars and spine-meltingly massive rock’n’roll. Marmalade Mama and everyones favourite erratic, pint smashing bandits The Southern River Band will swoon the bubbles out of your lager and make the hairs on your eye balls stand on end. If you’re after that classic taste of what a band should be, an energetic and rambunctious frontman backed by one of the best bands in Perth, Dr. Noggin-Floggin has got you sorted!
