Cry Club, Dulcie, Mojo Juju, Yergurl + more: Who to catch at BIGSOUND 2019

There's a lot to digest when opening BIGSOUND's 2019 program, so here's something that should help cut it down.

BIGSOUND's annual live music program seems to grow more daunting each year - understandable, considering how Australia's most scene is easily amongst one of the world's most consistently incredible, regardless of what genre you're looking at. This year's BIGSOUND program feels no different, with a long list of talent - 147 names, to be exact - capturing the excitement of Australia's music scene across all of its dominant genres, from the big names - Japanese Wallpaper, Mojo Juju, Mickey Kojak - to the bright up-and-comers only just releasing their first tracks. Hell, even listing what acts from the lineup we've talked about in the past twelve months would probably span a few pages; BIGSOUND are definitely on top of what's now and what's next for Australian music, and in 2019, that feels truer than ever.

Amongst this year's listing of 147 names are acts amongst Australia's most treasured and many sure to fill that same space in the next year or two ahead, whether that be in electronic, pop, rap, indie or even soul, jazz and metal. Take hip-hop, for example. It's hard to deny that Australia's rap scene is blossoming into something special and attracting international attention through front-runners like The Kid LAROI and Manu Crook$, and this year's BIGSOUND lineup captures this perfectly, enlisting everyone from Adrian Eagle and Lil Spacely to underground Sydney icon Nerve.

As a result of this year's dense program, BIGSOUND is proving increasingly difficult to navigate - where do you even begin? In order to help you out a little, and to better grasp who to catch at this year's Fortitude Valley parties, we've compiled a collection of 15 artists from a range of sounds, styles and backgrounds to highlight the talent of this year's festival and conference. Dive into them below, and find more information - and those final tickets - for BIGSOUND 2019 HERE.
