With so much new music coming out each and every day, it can be hard to listen to everything... but we'll be damned if we don't try. Here are our favourite tunes from the week that was from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Erika de Casier, Four Tet, Ghost Care, Jamie xx, PACKS, RIDE, Rowena Wisem Royel Otis and The Smile.

Dizzee Rascal - What You Know About That (feat. JME, D Double E & Turno)

Ahead of his new album next month, Dizzee teams up with another two grime OGs, D Double E & JME and producer Turno for a blistering new cut that explores the origins of grime while keeping things fresh and showing the next generation how it’s done. Dizzee Rascal’s new album Don’t Take It Personal is out February 9 via Big Dirtee Records.

Erika de Casier - Lucky

After recently playing big festivals worldwide (including just visiting Australia), writing for pop stars and collaborating with the likes of Mura Masa & Shygirl, Danish  singer, songwriter and producer de Casier announced her third album with an atmospheric & addictive new cut of jungle-pop goodness, Lucky. Erika de Casier’s new album Still is out February 21 via 4AD / Remote Control.

Four Tet - Loved

Check out what we said about Four Tet's stunningly tranquil new composition here.

Ghost Care - Canadian Dream

After a huge 2023, West Aussie trio Ghost Care keep things rolling into 2024 with a lush, groove laden new single of indie pop goodness, packed with reverb-soaked guitars, an earworm of a lead guitar hook and some irresistible vocal harmonies. Ghost Care are touring W.A. during January with support from Mia June.

Jamie xx - It's So Good

Juussttt when we managed to get Kill Dem out of our heads, Mr. xx himself is back with another slice of blissful dance music, featuring his signature multilayered, multi-vibe-switching sounds, this time pairing latin rhythms with a four to the floor kick, bouncy, brassy bass and a whole host of other synths and samples on It's So Good. Out now via Young / Remote Control Records.

PACKS - Missy feat. tormentatropica

A week out from the release of their third album, PACKS drop an altogether too catchy new single of lofi indie meets 90s alt rock. PACKS’ new album Melt The Honey is out January 19 via Fire Talk Records.

Ride - Peace Sign

After being blessed with a new Slowdive record last year, fellow 90s shoegaze legends Ride aren’t about to be outdone as they announce their seventh album with a new cut of dreamy, hypnotic and driving synthy, new wavey art rock. Ride’s new album Interplay is out March 29 via Wichita Recordings / PIAS.

Rowena Wise - New Years

Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-garage-folk-pop singer-songwriter Rowena Wise rings in the new year with a stripped back & stunning new single of acoustic guitar and vocal magic, showcasing her prowess as a songwriter, vocalist and instrumentalist. Out now via Beloved Recordings.

Royel Otis - Velvet

Sydney-duo Royel Otis increase the already high anticipation of their debut album with a chugging, jangly new single of 60s inspired sounds, sing-a-long inducing vocal chants and some tasty keyboard work. Royel Otis’ new album PRATTS & PAIN is out February 16 via OURNESS.

The Smile - Friend of a Friend

Throwback piano pop meets mellow jazz and string sections with an inevitable hint of Radiohead thrown in proves a winning formula on The Smile’s latest single, Friend of a Friend. The Smile’s new album Wall Of Eyes is out January 26 via XL / Remote Control Records.

Enjoy all these tunes as well as our favourite singles of the week and a stack of other new music we've been feeling in our Spotify playlist.
