Meet Interzone, a new Ben UFO-headlined event from the crew behind Planet X
The event will launch into the new Palace Social Club this month, alongside Poof Doof's Perth return and a Set Mo Saturday sesh.
In a world before coronavirus, three of Perth's best rave / dance music promoters - the teams behind Move, Polyrhythmic and Outer Body - got together to launch Planet X into the world, an audio-visual delight that brought together esteemed club talent from around the world together with brain-melting visuals and lights. The two shows that happened - the first featuring Jayda G, Move D and Nite Fleit; the second featuring Umfang, Lone and Fred P - were all-time, bringing an experience you wouldn't usually find amongst the depths of Perth's club world.
Obviously the momentum was paused a little bit over the last year, but with things now looking behind us, two-thirds of the Planet X crew are coming together to launch a new event into the stratosphere: Interzone. To be held as a part of Palace Social Club's debut weekend at the Mounts Bay Sailing Club, Interzone captures the same creative finesse of Planet X with a lineup that shoots for the stars, featuring a mix of hopeful internationals and locals that we may be seeing when the event takes off on April 23rd.
Leading the way is London's tech titan Ben UFO, a.k.a. one of the most esteemed DJs and producers from club music's last few decades. Sydney royalty Andy Gravey is also hopping on board, as well as Detroit's Marcellus Pittman, Perth favourite / all-round legend Rok Riley, and plenty more to be announced in the next few weeks. The venue is a mixed indoor/open-air location that they're decking out for the occasion, making up for a lost 12 months with a grand scale return that will well and truly re-introduce Perth's club music space back to its former, pre-COVID heights.
Interzone is just one of the events coming out of the Palace Social Club weekender, which between April 23rd to April 26th, will pack a wide range of events into the Mounts Bay Sailing Club to breathe a bit of new life into a long-time Perth favourite.
Interzone takes over the first night, while the Saturday will feature A Day on the Bay, a new show from the team behind Sets On The Beach and CENTENARY. that'll feature a full lineup headlined by Set Mo, whose show is always one of the funnest there is. The Sunday will be led by LGBTQI+ crew Poof Doof, who will be running a Drag Brunch during the day before opening things up into the Big Gay Bay Day that night, while the Anzac Day Public Holiday on the Monday will host Voyage Festival, featuring a local lineup and more activations than you can poke a stick at.
