Get to know Brissy rap queen G Elenil and her latest single, Something

Her last few singles have been getting it fkn done.

We first came across Brisvegas rapper G Elenil earlier in the year with her banging single God Enough, a track that joins others like GoldCut That Boi Off and (Where) My Money to create an impressive resume that begs further dissection. She recently dropped another heater in Something, which also serves as the first taste of her impending EP Kin, due out 2018. We sent her a few questions to help get to know her a little better, and you can do the same below:

Tell us about about yourself?

I’m G Elenil, I’m a musician and streetwear label owner based in Brisbane and I’ve been doing this for real since late 2016. I spent time in my childhood in Cyprus (where my dad is from) and I am Brisbane’s fav Wog Bitch.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

The common factor in all my music is that it’s rooted in hip-hop, but I usually play with aspects of dance, pop, R&B, alternative and soul as well. It’s always something for either moshing or grinding on a cutie.

Production/writing process:

I tend to mix it up a lot. Sometimes I hide in a room by myself for a day until I have a handful of tracks produced and recorded, and sometimes I hit up tomtom to do something together. And within that there’s a thousand ways a song might wind up finished.

Can you tell us about your new single, Something?

Something is me delivering my personality and my story in a tone that I hope can resonate with and uplift my audience. I’m rapping about my neighborhood and community service; about the boys that want to talk to me at shows; and about my heritage and my family history. I just wanted to be me on a track and be lighthearted about it. There’s also mad references to my merch/streetwear brand, Plane Street cause you know I need that plug.

Any shows coming up?

At the moment I’m holding off until the New Year, although I’m always doing guest spots with my friends.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

Keep an eye on my socials for more info about my next singles and EP, gig announcements and new merch.

Where can we hear more of your music?

You can find me on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Tidal... No one else got the name G Elenil so search me ;)
