It looks like Denzel Curry is collaborating with Sampa The Great on new music

On Instagram, the US rapper posted a list of features to finish off. On the list? Sampa, alongside big names like the Wu-Tang Clan.

It's no secret that Sampa The Great is someone special. The Zambian-born, Melbourne-based rapper has become the upper echelon of Australia's hip-hop scene, edging towards it with everything she's put out across her consistently brilliant career thus far, but none more so than her debut album The Return. Released last year, it was a stunning record about displacement and the African diaspora; Sampa The Great - at her most collected and confident - carving a pathway as one of the country's most celebrated musicians, and a history-maker while we're at it (she's the first musician to win the Australian Music Prize twice, and was the first female musician to win an ARIA Award in a hip-hop-aligned category).

It's also no secret, that internationally speaking, Denzel Curry is on top. The festival favourite has blossomed into a hip-hop heavyweight over the last two years particularly, with his 2019 record ZUU being a step up for the rapper that really took him to the next level career-rise. Then, came an unfortunately slept on collaborative album with Kenny Beats, and a plethora of guest features and collaborations that have seen Denzel erupt into one of the scene's most in-demand, something that doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Now, it looks like these forces are coming together. On Instagram this morning, Denzel posted a photo to his story with a list of features to complete, and on it, featured Sampa alongside a list of greats and near-greats: Wu-Tang Clan, DMX, Isiah Rashad, Rich Brian, DUCKWRTH, Kenny Mason and the list goes on. Sampa The Great is on their too, meaning that there could be very well be a cross-continental collaboration being born, featuring two rappers amongst the best in the world.

We can only wait and see if it actually comes to fruition, but we're pretty damn excited anyway. A big, international break-out moment like this is a long time coming for Sampa - who was booked for Coachella, amongst a range of other festivals in the US this year - and Denzel might be the person to help get her there.
