Premiere: Spenda C reps the new wave of Aussie rap and punk on The Plug EP

The trap and bass fiend is loving our next crop.

Let it never be said Spenda C doesn't have his finger on the pulse when it comes to the next crop of Australian artists to watch out for. It was only a month ago we asked him to throw us a few names in Australia's burgeoning grime scene, and after a bit of a break releasing music, today he's unveiled The Plug EP:

"With this project I really wanted to create a link between Australian rap and punk music and what I do as a DJ." And indeed The Plug does exactly that, taking a track from three of Australia's new wave hip hop stars - I AM D, Midas.Gold and Ivan Ooze, along with punk-rockers Columbus, and giving them classic Spenda C turn up.

"Rap music in Australia is exploding right now. There are so many artists that are breaking away from the Aussie Skip Hop clichés and doing their own things... I chose to remix records from these artists as I believe they all represent different sounds coming out of the rap scene and all are crushing it in their own unique way," he said, of the three hip hop remixes, before adding on the Columbus remix: "I really think we are starting to see a new wave in Australian punk-rock and one of the best bands coming out of the scene are Columbus. I’m so stoked to have the opportunity to remix one of their songs and connect with their energy and passion."

And for any Spenda C fans concerned the subject material might have an affect on Spenda C's attack on these remixes - fear not; each track is its own kinda monster, taking the core vocal elements of each track and turning them into the kinda bassy beasts we've come to know and love from Spenda C. As Ausmusic Month comes to a close, what's more Aussie then celebrating the next crop of our punk and rap scenes with some absolute club burners?
