Raised in Christchurch, New Zealand and now living on Australia's Gold Coast, Idiio are an outfit to watch. Creating some beautifully brooding indie electronica, if you've not heard them before then new single Holding Me Back is the perfect introduction. Following on from previous singles, Home and Sway, Holding Me Back's mixture of live/digital instrumentation, and souful, emotive vocal work (at times remiscent of Antony & The Johnsons), make for an irresistible combination. Recently linking up with the champinos at GD FRNDS, Idiio are an act to keep your eyes and ears on as they develop an already very rich and unique sound.
You'll be able to experience it live when they play their debut show at the GD FRNDS showcase Saturday 22 October at Miami Shark Bar on the Gold Coast, with Waxhead, Ivey and GD FRNDS DJs (event info HERE).
