The Brisbane-via-Malaysian musician strives with her first piece of work for the year.

May Lyn is an artist we've featured quite a bit over the years, notably highlighting her effortless strive in mixing sensational vocals and important things on resilence and displacement with productions that can range from bright and bouyant to soft and hazy – very different sounds, but connected in the way that May Lyn manages to make every sound she takes on shine with polish and sheen – a sign of a brilliant artist. Unfortunately, however, the musician has been a little quiet over the years, only releasing one single in 2018 while she works on a long-awaited follow-up to her stand-out 2017 debut EP Vessels, which was easily one of the more stand-out local EPs to arrive that year.

Today, we're stoked to announce that this follow-up, second EP is titled B.O.L.D. (Beauty of Life Divine), and on release later this year, is bound to showcase more of May Lyn's effortlessly brilliant talent and charm. We're also pleased to share its lead single Froot Loop, a little bit of a left-field and experimental cut for the musician, but one that shines with its brightness and upbeatness, combining a percussive, chopped-and-screwed production with lyrics on letting go and finding happiness in life – no matter what it throws at you. "I had just gotten over a depressive and confusing period in life, so this was my way of saying screw it! I’m done feeling sorry for myself, I need to let go, and stop taking life so seriously for a moment," she says on the single. "When you’ve been wallowing for too long, you need to inject some artificial sweetener - make yourself do things and purposefully put yourself in situations that don’t contribute to your depression. Eventually, that helps make you feel a lot better and give you the strength to move on."

Listen to the single below, before it arrives on International Women's Day – March 8th – with a second taste, Like A Woman.
