Premiere: Go deep with Grasps_ and 'Shields'

Another day, another Sidechains artists we're crushing hard on. Ahead of our joint party with that rad crew out of Sydney helping Sable launch his URL LUV EP at Oxford Arts Factory this Saturday night (info/tickets HERE), we're stoked to feature one of the support artists in Grasps_, and his new single, Shields? Take a listen below, followed by a few questions to find out a little more about Grasps_:

Tell us about about yourself?

I make music as Grasps_ . I probably started making music when i was like 15 and have gone through a bunch of different projects and genres. Everything’s always changing with my mind and where I want to be, but I feel like Grasps_ is the project to stick with me. It's so much fun making these tunes and the people that I’ve met through it have been amazing.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

I think my music is a mix between sort of trap/club music and borderline footwork-y stuff. I try to make songs that make you anxious, structured on heavy and hard hitting bass.

Production/writing process:

I make things very quickly, usually within a day. It's super hard for me to work on one song for longer than say a week. I’m also incredibly prone to trashing songs I make all the time, which sucks. I've been working on the tracks on the EP for probably the longest I've ever worked on individual songs before, so hopefully they come out a bit more polished than everything else I’ve made.

What do you do outside of Grasps_?

I like to drink dare iced coffee with friends and loiter a lot.

Any shows coming up?

I'm so excited to be supporting Sable on his Sydney show along with Floria, both some of my favourite artists at the moment. I’ve also got a show on this Wednesday at World Bar with Oh Boy for his single launch, which should be a really fun night with lots of friends!

And releases?

Along with the single, I have a full EP coming out via Sidechains with about four tracks on it, including Shields. I’m so excited to finally get all this music out there, its been far too long.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

Hopefully some more music and more shows, I'm aiming to just have a lot of fun making friends and seeing what people think of the music ^__^
