Listen: Tobacco Rat - Trenchtown 2020 [Premiere]

Another warping beast of a track from our favourite new sewer-dwelling friend, Tobacco Rat.

Tobacco Rat is the production alias of KUČKA's Jake Steele, a chance for him to flex his chops on weirder, deeper and darker club sounds, and Trenchtown 2020 is his new single. It follows on from the glitchy nightmare that was his remix of Hermitude's new album - the whole thing, condensed into two-and-a-half minutes. Where that was disjointed and dynamic, Trenchtown 2020 seems to have at least half an eye looking towards the dancefloor, an un-relenting, bass-focused stomper of a tune focused firmly on the club. Mashing up dancehall vibes with mangled synthesizers, angry trombones and fierce percussion, Tobacco Rat is bringing something new to future-beats, and we're digging it:
