Sydney-based vocalist Okenyo is definitely one to look out for this year. Her latest offering, Just A Story, is a neo-soul extravaganza pumped full of big, bold vocals and a delicate beat, sort of like something you would expect from Frank Ocean or a toned-down Janelle Monae or Solange Knowles. Picked as one of the ‘Top 50 people to watch’ by Elle magazine and a highlight of the BigSOUND Festival earlier this year in Brisbane, Okenyo is the slight breeze that comes through at a hot summer festival – refreshing, well-needed and something you wish will keep going for hours.
