Listen: Lovely Head + Pendant - Take [Premiere]
A couple of Sydneysiders team up on a super relaxing composition.
Here at Pilerats, we spend a whole heap of time banging on about thumping dancefloor tunes meant for darkened clubrooms. To switch things up a little we've been sent a premiere from Sydney folk Lovely Head (Vivian Huynh) and Pendant (Hugh Luscombe). Not too long ago, Pendant was known to his followers as Nakagin - a quiet achieving minimal beat maker. Recently, after catching a live performance from his partnered vocalist the two got chatting about teaming up. The result is Take.
Speaking with Hugh I discovered the collaboration process was a breeze with the track coming together almost effortlessly. "I laid down a sketch track to which Viv then crafted words and a melody. She really has a knack for working with minimal elements…I wanted the track to be all about the bass and her stunning vocal."
The track can best be described as airy. A steady piece made up of echoed synth work, clacking percussion and Lovely Head’s wistful vocal. This is a thoughtful piece of music, designed to drift you off someplace else. If you need to unwind, take a load off or anything of the sort I suggest you give this a crack. The quirky single artwork was put together by Danielle Karlikoff and you can check out more of her work HERE.
