Listen: Imad Royal - Troubles

A nice slice of electro-pop to deal with that mid-week hump.

You may have heard of Imad-Roy El-Amine before, probably not his real name, but as US producer Royals and one-half of US production duo SoySauce. Having accumulated a fair few originals and remixes under his previous names, El-Amine has launched Imad Royal, a new project to coincide with his signing to record label heavyweight Atlantic Records. Kicking off his alias with Troubles, El-Amine proves that his Imad Royal project will continue the high-caliber work released through his previous projects, with a well-produced piece of electro-pop containing soft, 'poppy' vocal work and melody amongst a faceted drum line and a general, up-beat vibe. Moving away from a more simple, minimalistic sound, Imad Royals' debut is a more radio-friendly take on electronic and hey, if it's helped us discover him he can't be doing too much wrong.
