In 2017, Cub Sport's second album BATS took them from a triple j favourite to one of Australia's most-adored acts, with frontman Tim Nelson putting everything on a table for a personal and highly touching record about love, acceptance, and the highs and lows of putting your true self out there - something I think a lot of people can relate to in one stage of their lives. In 2018, it looks like Jack River's about to do the same, ending a brilliant run of singles thus far with the release of her debut album Sugar Mountain in June, a record which is bound to solidify River's place as an incredibly talented songwriting and vocalist amongst the sometimes saturated-feeling Australian indie world. In a brilliant twist of fate, these two worlds have now combined, with Cub Sport jumping on the remix train for the first time to spin Jack River's epic Ballroom into an autotune-tinged pop ballad.

Despite being only their first remix, Cub Sport absolutely knock it out of the park with their remix of Ballroom. Adding a thick layer of auto-tune to Jack River's once-perfect vocals, Cub Sport manage to make River sound like our own version of Charli XCX, something that they've perfectly complemented with a blissful electronic beat which you could easily come across in one of Charli's more low-key moments. It's a hazy, dancefloor-ready gem that is perfect for those low-key moments in the early evening, and it's definitely a sign that Cub Sport should put their remix hat on more often.

Jack River's debut album Sugar Mountain is out June 22 via I OH YOU - pre-order it HERE. Make sure you head along to Vance Joy's upcoming Australian tour early to catch Cub Sport on support - deets HERE.
