Watch: Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Can't Keep Checking My Phone

The video opens up a can of worms.

Music can be thought provoking or it can be like Big Sean's I Don't Fuck With You: shallow entertainment meshed with a dull video smothered in ad placements. Unknown Mortal Orchestra's (UMO) video for Can't Keep Checking My Phone is the exact opposite. It dives straight into the world of mental disorders and it's seemingly endless. The band characterises the clip as the stuff you find going '...down an Internet rabbit hole at four in the morning'. But instead of the video becoming a Wikipedia game where you're going from deep-sea diving to President Abraham Lincoln as fast as possible you're just going through all the different types of mental illnesses. Furthermore the clip isn't a voyeuristic trip where you go, 'Oh wow look at that person with virtual gender dysphoria', rather it's a glimpse into the complex world of those who struggle with issues like said example and more on a day-to-day basis. On that UMO tip their live video for I Can't Keep Checking My Phone on Conan is something to watch. You need to see UMO do the splits seamlessly.
