A couple of months ago local faves POND gave us an upper-tempo ode to a southern Boorloo/ Perth suburb with Lights of Leeming, alongside a huge list of tour dates. Today they’re back with an electro-synth drenched dance-floor ready track Hang A Cross On Me, an offering taken from their forthcoming 9 deluxe album edition - out May 20th.

As one of three deluxe album tracks featuring on their ARIA #6 album 9, the release combines heavy bass riffs, a hip-shaking beat, and layers of moving synths to create an electrifying burst of psych-pop joy. Topped with vocalist Nick Allbrook effortlessly cool delivery, the release see’s the return of Cowboy John, a musician, poet, fashion icon, and Poon's Head Studio regular, who featured on Hobo Rocket back in the day (2013). “It's always a pleasure working with him. He is incredibly rare and brilliant and we love him,” sares Nick Allbrook on the collab.

Accompanied by a fun video starring the incredibly energetic, agile and captivating frontman himself Nick, with a disco ball, lampshade-looking fringed cowboy hat, and laser light gloves, it’s a fitting experience for the sounds and feelings Hang A Cross On Me oozes. Directed by Alex Haygarth, Nick shares that “Me and Alex just sort of roamed around the vast old Fremantle stone chamber of Victoria Hall, setting up little scenes in the basement, on the stage, in the lesser hall and from the gods. The afternoon light blasts through the windows into the theatre. Joe Ryan lent me his laser gloves and everything just sort of came together as we danced about, me with a bedazzled and fringed cowboy hat built by a tripper, Alex with a camera. It felt like the right type of creativity, with lots of grooving around and fun easy ease,” on the making of the clip.
