Premiere: Ryan Edmond - Typical Lover

Western Australian born, Swedish-based singer-songwriter releases his first music for 2023 with new single of downtempo indie folk sounds

Boorloo/Perth-born and now Stockholm-based singer-songwriter Ryan Edmond returns with his first new music of the year, in the form of the downtempo indie folk sounds of Typical Lover, out May 26 but premiering on Pilerats today!

Opening with an engaging guitar line, Typical Lover gives way to Edmond’s silvery & smoky vocals as the single builds momentum with layers of guitars and a steady rhythm section complimenting Ryan’s voice.

Speaking on the story behind Typical Lover, Ryan explains "'Typical Lover' is a song that I wrote to be open to interpretation. For me, it was an opportunity to experiment with different sounds and production techniques, while also exploring themes of love, addiction, and the search for something that feels real. I hope that listeners will connect with the lyrics and find their own meaning in the song."

To celebrate, Edmond is gearing up for a European tour, with shows in Sweden, France, Spain & Germany - see below for all dates, and give Typical Lover a spin ahead of its release tomorrow!
