Premiere: Iluka drops retro video for Sympathy, unveils Ritual EP Tour dates

The EP is due April 6 before she embarks on a sizeable east coast jaunt to celebrate.

In the twilight weeks of 2017 (remember that year, that one that only wrapped up a few weeks ago), we introduced you to Iluka and her summery new bop, Sympathy. And today, in the interest of ~synergy~ we're very excited to premiere the single's retro-infused video clip, perfectly showcasing Iluka's "motown-revival" vibes. The clip leans into the single's empowering themes perfectly, with the Sydney artist describing the track thusly: "The whole premise of the song is about radical self expression in an all too often repressive society. The video serves as an expressive response, through art, through colour, through movement, and through community. My vision was to bring together a bunch of beautiful, creative people – dancers, painters, sculptors, circus performers, photographers, musicians – in a wild, dreamlike world and simply give them the freedom to be themselves."

Directed by Kate Haplin, it's a classy affair, and serves as the perfect precursor to Iluka's forthcoming Ritual EP and impending tour dates, which you can check out after the video, below:
