How many close friends do you still have from school? For the guys in Fripps & Fripps, that answer is at least three, with the group of Bailey Stevenson, Jacob Ingram, Michael Tran, and Keith Mclean-Anderson having cut their teeth in the unsuspecting halls of a high school assembly.
Fast forward a decade or so, and the guys have played all around Australia, taken to the stage at SXSW Austin, and their latest single (2023’s Shame) receiving some national airplay love on triple j. Now the guys are setting their sights on a debut album, giving us a taste of what to expect on atmospheric and anthemic new single, Blackhole. Out February 16, Blackhole is premiering a day ahead of release on Pilerats.
Opening with mellow guitar strums, Blackhole soon gives way to a steady rhythm section and big, reverb drenched guitars alongside lead vocalist Stevenson’s soaring vocals, coming together to form a commanding slice of indie rock, packing plenty of catchy pop sensibilities.
With a single launch coming up at The Factory Floor in Marrickville on March 9, dive into Fripps & Fripps’ Blackhole a day ahead of release:
