Premiere: Mirror Mirror - Baby Be Mine

Irresistibly smooth funky vibes from Palm Beach-based artists debut single

Bringing the 70s kicking and screaming into 2022 is Ondre Davis under his Mirror Mirror alias, who tomorrow will unleash his debut solo track, Baby Be Mine, premiering today on Pilerats.

Built heavily around everyone’s favourite electric piano, the Rhodes, Davis sites legends like Steely Dan and Eumir Deodato who shine through the tracks playful, bouncy nature with tight drums, wam bass and plenty of vintage delay and reverb for that lush, textured sound.

Of the track, Davis says  “I wrote this song 2 and a half years ago, after buying my Fender Rhodes which has featured heavily on this EP. After sitting there all day, singing and playing, completely in awe of my new purchase, I had the idea of the song finished.

I love to think these ideas pop out of these old instruments. Baby Be Mine came from an idea to re-create a super classic, corny, love song from inspiration like Bobby Caldwell, Wings & Ned Doheny. It is a story of expressing the feelings of insecurities and love in a relationship. ”

Give Baby Be Mine a listen and check out it’s music video ahead of its release tomorrow.
