Listen: Yuck - Hold Me Closer

Yuck go back to basics on their new single.

Yuck seemed to lose their way there for a little while. After the departure of their previous frontman, the band’s sound changed from the raucous, scuzzed-out rock of their debut to a more restrained and shoegazing sound for their next album. It didn’t have quite the same impact. But with Hold Me Closer, Yuck are back to the overblown fuzz and lo-fi vocals that made their 2011 debut so iconic. From the bloody hand drawn cover to the driving, forceful delivery of everything from the percussion to the vocal delivery, it sounds like Yuck have woken from the post break-up stupor that defined their sophomore.

Here’s hoping Hold Me Closer’s a sign of things to come:
