Framed: Amok Island - Endemism
An exhibition of new work by Fremantle-based artist Amok Island.
Early last year, we brought you a video interview with highly celebrated multi-disciplinary artist Amok Island. Since then, he's exhibited in several locations across Perth, Japan and The Netherlands. Amok Island's work heavily centres around marine life and unique species, creating large, vibrant renditions of them in paint.
His creative practice doesn't end there. In addition to murals, his sculptural projects are highly regarded, with an impressive body of work constructed in steel and concrete. These creations featured letters in Amok's signature type style, submerged under the sea around various points of the Western Australian coastline as a commentary on the relationship between nature and the impact of humanity. There's no one quite like Amok Island in the artistic landscape right now, and we're very excited to announce his latest solo exhibition of work titled Endemism. Featuring a range of new artwork, Endemism opens at 6pm on the 25th of September at Outre Gallery, located at 260 William street, Perth. Full details are below.
