Vic Mensa - Down On My Luck gets the McDonald's Remix?

Today in not really news, McDonald's (maybe) re-works Vic Mensa's jam to sell some beef patties.

McDonald's America is having a pretty average start to the new year. For a pretty great wrap-up of their new 2015 campaign which has gone very horribly, you can check out THIS article on eater.com, which essentially makes the obvious argument that a company saying they care about their community can't also tell employees they're gonna need a second job if they work there. While Australian Macca's just seem to focus on tricking us into thinking their food is associated with happy and sexy people having fun at the beach, the American golden arches aim for the heartstrings, and completely miss the mark.

Anyway their run of good times continue with today's "Did they rip it off or didn't they?" pieces of music news, the hot tip given to us by WA electro-pop duo GRRL PAL, who sent a Tweet to recent Laneway visitor Vic Mensa asking if he'd heard the song used in a McDonald's ad for double quarter pounders, one that sounds somewhat similar to Mensa's breakout single, Down On My Luck.

Mensa doesn't really seem to care, making light of it all:

Not sure where it's all headed, but it can be fun to ruminate on things of this ilk, especially when it's a big nasty global corporation versus an artist. Both are below for your streaming pleasure, and we're sorry if this just made you wanna go eat a Big Mac.
