Listen: Abhi//Dijon - Stay Up EP

11 tracks is a pretty big EP, and we can be very grateful for every one.

Abhi//Dijon first made my ears prick up a couple of years ago when Soundcloud’s lovely “Recommended” function steered me in their direction, to a song called Horses. Since then I’ve tried to follow their progression to its current point with the release of the Stay Up EP, as they delve deeper into the RnB genre with their low key approach.

I think I’ve always had some kind of apprehension for exploring the contemporary realm of R&B, but Abhi//Dijon have dispelled all my fears. A few days ago I slipped into their sonic world under the cover of my bedsheets, with the intention of doing exactly what the EP’s title suggested. It’s been two days since I stayed up, yet I can’t listen to anything else. One is a smooth and thoughtful ode to a committed lover, while 3AM’s syncopated guitar rhythms leave you wanting nothing other than to slow boogie with mates in a dark room (or is that just me?) Werk is the black sheep, as A//D switch suddenly to some sensual and seductive rapping. All in all, it’s passed the three-day-repeat-listen-test, so that’s gotta be a good thing surely…

Unfortunately they ain’t touring in Australia any time soon, so if you want that slow boogie during a live set get over to the US as they do shows with The Internet.
