Premiere: Taka Perry shares dreamy new EP cut, Riverside

The rising Sydney producer's new EP is out next month, and it's already sounding great.

Taka Perry is an artist to watch. The quickly-rising 20-year-old Sydney musician is fast becoming one of Australian electronic's most exciting, whether it's through his own work - like last month's glitchy Clouds - or through his work with names including Ruel and Thomston, two artists pushing the AU/NZ scenes in very exciting directions themselves. Armed with a dreamy and relaxed sound that sometimes, like on Clouds, turns glitchy and more 8-bit in tone, Perry is onto something good, something he's sure to further demonstrate with a four-track debut EP expected sometime next month. Premiering today, Riverside is the second cut from said EP and it's a whimsical moment of electronic bliss, taking you to the clouds as he fleshes out the hazier, washed-out side of his sound above piano chords, nostalgic synth melodies, unexpected guitar lines and everything else he can fit into the dynamic and multi-layered four minutes. "Riverside is a nostalgic memory of my childhood when everything was simple and easy," says Taka Perry, and on Riverside, he'll transport you to a place that'll make you feel the same; his expert, landscape-creating songwriting skills taking you along for the drive.
