Premiere: Herzeloyde welcomes an up-tempo new heater, Dream Type

The genre-bending Australian producer will share his new EP via Fool's Gold Records later this month.

Over the last five years, a consistent stream of A-grade releases has put Melbourne's Herzeloyde forward as a front-runner of Australian electronic in the international eye, finding global acclaim and top-tier co-signs from the likes of Noisia and Fool's Gold heavyweight A-Trak. It's not hard to work out why either; his discography spanning multiple genres over multiple labels and platforms, each sound touched with that signature Herzeloyde precision and intricacy that allows him to champion any sound he attempts - trap, drum-and-bass, house and more. This production versatility donned by Herzeloyde ensures that his releases are always at the front of left-field experimentation and adaptation to changing markets, and it's something that'll be front and centre on Paroxysm, a new EP expected later this month that'll mark his first EP on Fool's Gold Records.

Dream Type is its first taste and it sees Herzeloyde change things up once again, pushing the boundaries as he takes a 'classic' bass-house sound and gives it a modern twist that feels distinctly Herzeloyde - clanging, distorted melodies and quick-firing bass kicks coming together for a generally quite up-tempo and energy-inducing sound, highlighting his voice in the process. "Creating Dream Type was a unique experience as it truly felt like the tune was writing itself," he says on the release. It was a process filled with forward momentum and not once was there doubt or uncertainty as to what else it needed. Excitement pushed it through to the end and I feel that energy is communicated from start to finish. This was also one of the first tracks I've highlighted my own voice on instead of just using it as a background element. That was a personally gratifying experience and a chance to experiment with writing vocal hooks."

Dive into the track below, and keep an eye on Herzeloyde as he continues to flourish as an electronic producer to be reckoned with in the months ahead.
