Portugal. The Man just featured on a future-bass track because 2016

And hey, it's actually pretty damn good.

2016 has been packed-full of weird, unexpected collaborations and with the end of the year in sight, it looks like this isn’t changing. The genre-mashing, collaboration dimension that has already spat out an unlikely Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga and Kevin Parker collaboration just re-returned, this time with indie-rock back Portugal. The Man teaming up with German electronic outfit Drunken Masters for a strange-on-paper future-bass track Louder. Surprisingly though, it works pretty darn well. Portugal. The Man’s woozy psychedelic vocals float over a crisp, snapping production that sits at ease for much of the song. The song really pipes up around that middle-point though, bringing a swirling synth line and clunks of percussion for a refreshing, summery breakdown

Released through Fool’s Gold Records, the German duo say that Louder has been a long time in the making. “We started working on it 1 ½ years ago when we met John of Portugal. The Man after meeting him at a show in Germany” they say. “We asked him to lay down a top-line on a chord progression we made, and it took over a year and multiple versions but we nailed it a few months ago.” Listen to the track below.
