Listen: Jeffrey Alexander - How You Want To Feel

Jeffrey Alexander enters the Aussie electronic scene with some soulful house.

Jeffrey Alexander has jumped onto the Australian electronic scene with his debut single in the lead up to the self-titled EP, which is set to be released in early December. With the likes of Gossling featuring on one of the tracks yet to hit the airwaves, the EP will be sure to turn a few heads and prick up a few ears.

The new project by Alexander is being released in stages, with the first single a good sign of what’s to come. How You Want To Feel brings the groove to the table while maintaining solid roots in house, and clearly displays Alexander’s impressive versatility in production. Combining funky synths with the instantly recognisable elements of house is no easy task, but Alexander achieves this with considerable fluency. Just try to stop the feet moving, the hips swinging and the head bopping while you listen. It’s the kind of song makes me want to embark upon my all time favourite festival activity - lowering myself to the ground to admire the organised chaos of hundreds of feet moving in a kind of awkward unison.

I was lucky enough to have a sneaky listen to the EP in its entirety, and it’s a diverse four-track creation that keeps you on your toes throughout. The influences are clearly varied and wide ranging, yet the combinations and transitions are seamless.

Jeffrey Alexander’s debut release is ready to be enjoyed. In the words of the man himself, he’s gifted us this gem “With love, heart, care & red wine” - a great list of ingredients if ever I've seen one.
