Listen: Groove Armada - Paris (andhim remix)

One of my most vivid festival memories comes from 2010. In the summer of that year, UK legends Groove Armada sent the Big Day Out’s Boiler Room into total rapture. I was a sweaty, amped and over-awed kid having the time of life.

Ever since that day some five years ago, I’ve always kept the song Paris close by. The word ‘euphoric’ is thrown around plenty in music editorial but with this beauty it truly applies. Paris is a blissful journey; driven by soaring string sections, a delectable drum beat and resounding keys. It’s an absolute cracker. Listen to the original HERE.

Just days ago, German house duo andhim decided to release their take on that hit from 2007. The remix is part of the B-side to Groove Armada’s new album Little Black Book, which features 12 remixes of some of their most iconic dance hits. In this instance, the fellows from Berlin and Cologne respectively realised how brilliant Paris was in the first place making subtle yet super cool additions. Sliding in a progressive bass line, a rattling snare and kicking up the tempo is all that was needed to take this ripping track to a whole new realm. If you’re in a lull before heading out to go cut shapes in a club, put this on and all will be right with the world.
