Listen: Adele - Chasing Pavements (SBTRKT Remix)

SBTRKT trawls his archives with an unreleased rework from over six years ago.

Seemingly out of nowhere, one of our favourite electronic maestros, SBTRKT (Aaron Jerome), has released a remix of Adele’s hit Chasing Pavements from way back in 2008. The rework sees Jerome swamping the track in vocal snatches and a tonne of distortion with the syncopated drumbeats pairing up with a host of what I can best describe as laser beams, as Adele’s soaring voice jags along over the top.

This one’s a real shoe gazer; I imagine a clubroom full of punters nodding their head in unison as this spins out. What I love most about this release is that it signposts the era of synth that was soon to become exceptionally popular. You can hear the huge potential in SBTRKT's sound that has been fulfilled in recent years. With Jerome squeezing this out from over six years ago, it begs the question; how many of our favourite producers have solid gold hiding away in their music libraries, just waiting to be cast out to the public ear? It’s a super exciting prospect! I know everyone's raving about Adele's chart-topping 25 album at the moment but this is where everyone's attention should be!
