Exclusive: Stream Clones' bass-fueled debut EP, Show Me The Fundamentals
Some deep vibes from over here in the west.
Over in Perth we don't mind our bass - something that definitely stems from our rich history as the drum'n'bass and breakbeat capitol of Australia. In recent years it's morphed into the dubstep, trap and bass-house worlds, with celebrated artists like ShockOne, Ta-ku and Slumberjack all rising to global acclaim. Today we're excited to introduce you to a new player in Perth's bass music scene, Clones, a dude erring more on the four-four tip, as evidenced by the EP we're streaming for you a few days ahead of release - Show Me The Fundamentals.
Given he is relatively new to the scene, we also sent him a few questions to help ya'all get to know him a little better, before the rest of the country catches up:
Tell us about yourself?
My name's Aaron and I’m a 20-year-old student from Perth who just likes to make beats every second I have free!
What kinda tunes we talkin’?
For this EP, I really tried to blend in so many different elements from genres surrounding me or genres that I think should be bigger. In Coke Dreams it has a heavy moombahton and rasta sort of feel to it but for the other two they’re just straight deep house bangers.
Production/writing process:
I love changing up the environment I produce in, it helps me keep my brain fresh and juicy with creativity. All three tracks of the EP were started in different rooms of the house to be honest and what’s happening around me can also affect what sort of music I’m producing or the sort of sound that I’m getting.
What do you do outside of music?
Kick back with mates, have a few cold beers and live the single life!
Any shows coming up?
I’m flying over to Sydney for a show on the 3rd of December at Starfvckers (HOME Nightclub) which I’m super pumped for (more info HERE).
What’s the rest of the year have in store?
The rest of the year is going to spent finishing off my next EP, planning for some exciting new ventures and of course sinking some drinks at the beach.
Where can we hear more of your music?
FACEBOOK and/or SOUNDCLOUD.
