After releasing their Victory EP in June and five years on from their acclaimed debut album Different Beings Being Different, Adelaide six piece West Thebarton have announced their sophomore album Mongrel Australia, set for a March 2024 release, alongside new single Desire.

Desire is the pull of the coast, the craving of passion and a feeling of irresistible release when you separate yourself from the world for a split second and escape,” says frontman Ray Dalfsen. “I wrote it while reimagining a moment in time, being alone with the person you love, and life stops in its tracks. It might brew a lil milder than what you’re used to but it’s not a ‘fuck you’ to pub rock, more like a ‘keep the light on, I’ve gotta get away for a second, but I’ll be back soon.’”

Now the band have followed-up Desire with a fun, party-themed music video that sees the guys on a karaoke night out, complete with ocean backgrounds for the lyrics and the drinks flowing - just like any good karaoke night out… waking up on the beach afterwards is optional, though.
