A few weeks on from releasing her stunning latest single Sleep On My Side, Naarm/Melbourne-based singer, songwriter and musician Taylah Carroll has managed to make the emotional cut even more touching, with an amazing new live version & music video, premiering on Pilerats today ahead of its June 28 release.

Recorded and filmed at the Heritage-listed Flinders Street Mission to Seafarers building, the setting provides the perfect backdrop for Carroll’s live Wurlitzer electric piano and vocal performance with gorgeous wood panels, big open windows and the dreamy late afternoon sun streaming through… and the other star of the show, the goldfish in their bowl atop the Wurlitzer!

The live video sees Taylah once again teaming up with director Nick Mckk (Julia Jacklin, Spacey Jane, Stella Donnelly) who captured the atmosphere and vibe of the live performance perfectly. Speaking on the live version of Sleep On My Side, Carrol shares “The live video was inspired in part by an Alex Prager book I have on my coffee table. I adore her work. I think the finished product really honours that reference. During the performance, a trail of employees started walking through the courtyard outside the room carrying oil paintings of various size and colour. It was as if they got the Alex Prager brief and just rocked up and rolled in. The timing was impeccable… I couldn’t have paid for that! It was a perfect moment of synchronicity”.
