Following up their Excellent People EP and hot on the heels of tours with the who’s who of Aussie punk rock including supporting Beddy Rays, Dune Rats, Bad//Dreems and Private Function are the brilliantly named Radolescent who are back with their appropriately titled raucous new single Tough, with it’s Australian outback themed video premiering on Pilerats today!

With some subtle Aussie country inspired slide guitar (courtesy of a stubbie in the video, of course) underpinning the punk rock goodness of Tough, the wide shots of red dirt landscapes, horses and flying down dirt roads on four wheelers feature in the video all hit the mark perfectly.

On the creation of new single, the band say Tough is the “result of bass guitarist Lachlan Barker, an acoustic guitar and a few too many beers under the Bali hut of his Gold Coast home. After writing what was a somewhat country-esk vibe of a song  Lachlan brought the tune to the rest of the band where it was converted into a full blown rock song, with the application of big drums, power chords and a beautiful slide guitar.”

When it comes to the inspiration behind the track, the group explain "Tough in its essence, is a song akin to the feeling of someone close to you becoming a stranger right before your eyes - a probing sense that maybe they weren’t the person you thought they were, while also reeling from the fact maybe you weren’t the person they hoped you were either. The confusion of hope amalgamated with the harsh realities of what a relationship can truly be in its day to day, is what Tough explores. We all wear a disguise and ‘Tough’ explores where yours ends and where those around you begin.”

Twilight driving can be inadvertently dangerous out west when you’re weaving around birds and roos, but sure does it make great inspiration.
