Premiere: Private Function create a funeral home jingle with White Lady Funerals

The Melbourne punk-rockers will share their debut album, St Anger, on August 16th.

Over the last two years, Melbourne punk-rockers Private Function have stepped forward to become one of the most invigorating live acts of the bustling Melbourne music scene, with catchy hooks and thick rhythms combining to create this guitar-driven sound that feels like the intertwining of garage-rock, punk-rock and a whole lot more. Their versatile and constantly moving sound was something front and centre of their 2017 EP Six Smokin' Songs and then again on its same-year follow-up, Rock In Roll, and is something sure to be highlighted for the third time as they dive into album mode, sharing their debut full-length, St Anger, via Disdain Records on August 16th.

After sharing Talking To Myself back in March this year, they've now shared another album tease that showcases that exact versatility we mentioned, capturing their fierceness as a band - yet also their light-heartedness - as they share an ode to their favourite funeral home, White Lady Funerals. Arriving ahead of the album release and a full tour we'll get to in a second, White Lady Funerals is a high-octane, high-energy return for the band that doesn't really pull back from the second its explosive open arrives, with layered guitar riffs and punchy, cut-through vocals creating chaos; really quite the polar opposite of what you'd expect at a funeral home. "With our love of industries profiting off people’s deaths and catchy advertising jingles, it only made sense for us to put the two together and create a loving tribute to our favourite funeral home," says the band's guitarist, Joe Hansen, on the track. "Growing up and living in Melbourne, White Lady Funerals signs and offices are seen everywhere - from the overpriced inner-city streets to those Zone 2 suburbs where your dad would go to buy potting mix. But wherever you grew up, death has always been the ultimate social equaliser, and White Lady Funerals continues to facilitate the undertakings of the inevitable with white suits, white roses, and cool red hats."

You can pre-order the whole record on vinyl or cassette HERE while you wait for St Anger to arrive on August 16th, and while you're at it, dive into the video for White Lady Funerals below:
