Hailing from Moruya (a lazy 300 km south of Eora/Sydney) is Nancy & The Jam Fancys, a five-piece putting an interesting & honest spin on Aussie pub rock. We’ve been fans of them since we premiered their single Carmen Electra back in 2022 and are stoked to be premiering their latest single and video Come On Over a day ahead of release, alongside its fuzzy & nostalgic music video.
Taking things in a slightly more mellow and tender direction while still packing big guitar hooks and memorable lead lines, Come On Over showcases lead vocalist Lewis Griffin’s unique and entrancing gravelly baritone and emotional register.
Speaking on the new single, Griffin explains "It's bloody hard to be real with yourself sometimes. In relationships, those moments of poor behaviour you find yourself remembering, I think you've got to own them. It might not win someone back, or excuse your behaviour, but at least it helps you become a better fucking human being".
Meanwhile, the music video sees the band crafting a fun & feelgood music video composed of footage recorded around the Far South Coast of NSW, packing with surfing and jamming in a pub all par for the course. The band explains "Filming on a 2000’s digital tape recorder in 2024 causes a lot of headaches. Though the end product with all its issues and imperfections is something to cherish which cannot be replicated by modern equipment. This clip was filmed by Nancy and The Jam Fancys around the Illawarra and Moruya on the NSW south coast."
Come On Over follows up their 2023 self-titled debut EP and most recent single Mirror My Melody and comes ahead of their forthcoming debut album. Recorded by Andrew Hehir (The Scientists, Hugo Race, Bad Dreems) and mixed by go-to engineer/Aussie music legend Mikey Young (who’s recently handled mixes for the likes of The Chats, The Murlocs, Civic and countless others), the band’s debut is definitely in safe hands.
