With a seven date NSW & QLD tour kicking off in just over a week, what better way for Ferny Fairway to get set for a string of shows than to drop a blistering new upper tempo cut of alt-rock, with State of Mine premiering on Pilerats a day ahead of release alongside its car themed music video.

Big, fuzzy guitars meet an urgent rhythm section, underpinning frontman Jack Johnston’s impassioned vocals that explore the familiar concept of feeling like time has been wasted on past relationships on State of Mine.

This theme carries over to the music video that sees Jack at the wheel, driving through a range of different settings at all times of the day, sometimes accompanied by a girl, sometimes by the rest of the band… and sometimes in reflective solo mode.

Speaking on their new single and video, Ferny Fairway explains "'State of Mine' was based upon never feeling right after always trying. The song is about the realisation of ending past relationships and feeling like you've wasted time. The theme of the music video involves our frontman, Jack, in an argument with a girl before getting into the car and driving away. Jack picks up each member of the band, 1 by 1 and features the boys driving to different locations, singing the song in a convertible.Although the theme is about a breakup, we centred the majority of the video around the band members jamming to the track, as the tonality of the song makes the listener want to move and have fun."
